Application Process Q&A | lanopearl ® Skin Care Australia

At lanopearl, we believe in growing with you.
Our continuous mission is to grow our brands, raise our sales volume, market share and shareholder value, today,
tomorrow and into the future.

    1. How do I know which country is still available for sole distribution?
If you click on the ‘Export Distributors’ heading under ‘Contact Us’ you will see the list of sole distributors. For further information about availability please email gino@lanopearl.com.au

    1. How much capital do I need to invest to become a sole distributor?
It depends on a number of different factors. For a large country you should expect the capital investment to be $AU100,000- $AU200,000, however if your company currently wholesales skincare then the cost of investment will be much lower as many of your business costs such as rent are already covered, hence you may need as little as $AU50,000 for stock and cash flow. As such, the investment needed may be anywhere between $AU30,000 – $AU200,000 depending on your circumstances.

    1. What is Lanopearl concept and positioning?
Our mission is to be a leading Australian skincare company that creates high quality skincare products at affordable prices for worldwide distribution. Our aim is to grow together with suppliers, distributors and customers. Our products are made with the utmost concern for safety and are built upon a natural or organic base. Our quality is second-to-none but our pricing is competitive; generally 20-40% cheaper than department store brands. Our brands contain uniquely Australian ingredients that deliver exceptional results.

    1. I don’t have experience within the skincare industry yet I am keen to become a Lanopearl sole distributor, is this possible?
Many of our most successful distributors started without industry experience. Being a skincare sole distributor requires you to have multiple talents such as marketing, sales and accounting skills. If you have some experience within these fields it would help fast track success however you can also employ experienced staff to support your business. You do however need a passion for skincare and a willingness to learn and stay abreast of the industry.

    1. How difficult is it to apply for FDA certification?
Some countries such as China, Korea, Japan and USA are quite difficult whereas Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and UAE are less strict and the application is much easier. In general, products containing sunscreen SPF will prove difficult.
Our export team can help by prepare sample FDA documents for you to show your Health Department prior to applying, however if you know that the process is going to be difficult for you, our advice is to appoint an FDA agent to apply on your behalf. It will cost extra but it may be worth paying to save your time and frustration.

    1. Lanopearl has over 100 products, can I just import the top 3 initially to trial?
From our experience, customers like to have a full range to choose from. We suggest you go for at least 80% of the range and would be happy to help you work out a suitable suite of products to start with.

    1. How will price increases affect my company?
We view our distributors as business partners and we wish to grow with your company. Our pricing policy is to ensure stability for as long as possible. We are continually growing every year and the more volume we buy, the more we can contain price increases. However, from time to time price rises are inevitable due to increases in raw material costs. We will give you at least 30 days notice prior to any price changes.

    1. What makes a successful Lanopearl distributor?
      • Right products: We have unique, premium products that are competitively priced. Our brands have been in the market for over 20 years and our sales are continually growing.
      • Right Price: Invest time in researching competitor pricing and set up the right cost structure for sub-distributors and end users. Right pricing will help to speed up your success.
      • Right Marketing: Skincare is heavy marketed and faces enormous competition. A clear strategy is essential to ensure maximum results. We continually invest in marketing strategies that improve brand awareness.
      • Right Team: Running a lean office is important in the first year. Employ people with adequate experience in the field, and remember, the right staff can help you grow the business and make significant changes to total sales.
      • Working closely with us: We have proven, successful strategies which our export team can share with you.
      • Business Owner: You are the most important person who can change the game! Successful business owners always keep learning, are passionate about skincare and love people.

  1. What benefits can I expect to get from being a Lanopearl sole distributor?
    • Your company should make a profit within the second year of operation however some distributors who have previous experience can make a profit in as little as 6 months. It depends on your strategy and the competition within your market. Our brands are well known in Asian countries and communities, especially Chinese speaking areas, as well as Thailand and Vietnam. As such, countries with large Asian populations will have a higher chance of making a profit sooner.
    • Once you operate your company for a few years, you may look at selling part of the business to investors.
    • Alternatively you may wish to sell the whole company. Our Thailand distributors sold their Lanopearl distribution company to another investor and make a good return on profit.
    • Apart from financial benefits, involvement in the health and beauty business will deliver you a healthy, happy and also wealthy lifestyle.
